Paul spent the last 20 years working in the field of commercial photography owning and operating Paul Rung Studio, Inc in Chicago, IL. During that time he consistently explored another passion; working with metal, glass and painting, often incorporating this work into his commercial photography assignments. Today Paul is focusing on this artistic passion combining practiced techniques with new forms of presentation. His chemically treated glass pieces feature photography and can be customized. His functional art has a fine art twist incorporating painted and distressed metal into pieces that include mirrors, clocks, birdhouses tryptichs and stand-alone art pieces. All of Paul’s work is one of a kind, partly because of the random chemical processes but mostly because Paul resists duplicating any piece. He prefers instead to always move forward searching for new visual directions. Future design plans include lamps, 3-dimensional sculpture, pendulum clocks, garden art and other exterior applications.
